FEBRUARY 18, 2007

hello all
it is sunday morning here in the cosy town of cork.
it has been 48 hours since i handed my keys in to the bodega.
we had our last night thursday. it was quite incredible. a huge turn out to send off one of the best places i have had the pleasure to work in.
the crew at the bodega were by far the best assembly of talented professionals i was proud to be part of. from conrad our fearless leader on down to jimmy, kamil and didier our kitchen porters, a team dedicated to the deliverance of the best possible.

oh what a party!
we stayed the entire night. refusing to let any moment go by unsavoured. by 11 am friday, tired and barely standing. i handed in my keys and walked out that door a final time. the Bodega is no more.
i have a video of the last song played at the bar. in its fuzziness you can appreciate the joy of those present. not because it was the last moment. because they were there to be part of it. they too wanted to savour every last moment.
there was a lot of love in the building. it showed.

as far as what is next for me.....

thank you all for your invitations and support.  keep them coming!

i have been approached by a few individuals looking to start up something new.
one man offered up his restaurant for us to take over to do with as we please.
jerry and i are looking into that one closely. it is small. big things have come from smaller places.
another of cork's fine creative chef's sought me out about taking over another new venture.
opportunities abound.
do good work and ye shall be rewarded. have faith in your abilities and doors open.
which to walk through?

FEBRUARY 11, 2007

well our little heaven of an establishment has been ripped away from our souls. The Bodega has been sold. to a developer. for a shop. after 10 years of faithful service, tweaking and pruning, we are to be no more. it genuinely amazes me that at the height of our success, we are to be split up and scattered to the winds. to be taken where we may. if you knew the numbers of our little operation and the money we generated, you would shake your head. many do. we have had some of our clients crying at the thought.

i would like to take this time and say to all my fellow team....

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! BELLISSIMO!

you have each performed. the reviews are outstanding. in spite of the lineup at the ticket wicket, the show is closing.

take a bow!

you have worked hard and are deserving of the recognition you will receive.

let's just see where the winds take us!

NEW MUSIC POSTING!

head on over to the music section and hear just how i've been spending my weekends!

feel free to tell me what you think these are works in progress and i am honing and polishing. tell me when to keep massaging. tell me when to leave it alone. i really do appreciate input. hit me as hard as you want.

december 31, 2006        Neu jahre ubernacht!

prost!!!
oops I'm in Ireland
Slainte!

it is hard to keep all the spirits you embrace warm and comfortable inside you
my new year goal will be to honour all i know with compassion and grace
to remember that it is all of them that make up me and to be thankful for that
i will try to take nothing or no-one for granted
i thank each of you for the role you play in my life
keep up being the beautiful quirky individuals you are so i may enjoy your richness and depth
shine your lights brightly

i savour your brilliance
aren't we a creative bunch
artists and musicians all
each one of us
amazing

thankfully for me, the holiday season is pretty much over.
we have been extremely busy and i must say it has been very hard work
the crew in the kitchen,"team bodega" has preformed outstandingly and i am rewarding us with a night of drink and music here in my house tomorrow

my guitars still love me and i them
thank you again for your support
i do appreciate your listening
you are my audience

my recorder is on it's way
i have paid for it and it should have left germany and should be getting on a boat soon
cross my fingers
i am trying another company
the last one "say" the unit got lost in transit
it didn't cost me anything but time

DECEMBER 5, 2006

things are moving along here
i still love playing music and work treats me pretty well
we are gearing up for the busy period
it all starts tomorrow
we are officially launching our new tapas menu with free food tomorrow night
then pretty much every night until christmas i have a party of some sort
some are small, 20-30 people
some are large, 200 plus
some nights i have more than one
should be fun
we close christmas eve through to the 27th
so i will get some time off to relax and think about you all enjoying a lovely christmas together
with beautiful mash potatoes and wonderful gravy
of course the breakfast too
i will think about that
monica has left crosshaven, but is still in ireland
i talked to her the other day and she seems a little lost but fine
she is living back at ballymaloe house, where we lived when i first came over
it is a beautiful place with tons of acreage for chewy to run and for her to walk and think about what is next for her
she still seems to want to return to canada, this time she is talking toronto
me, i still love my place and am quite happy with cork
i work, watch a bit of soccer, catch some interesting documentaries, and play my guitars for two to four hours every day
i love it
the practice is paying off and i can hardly wait to record some stuff for you to hear
i want to share it with someone
my neighbours don't seem to mind, one girl keeps giving me the thumbs up when she walks by!
living on the ground floor coupled with my disdain for closed windows, rather my penchant for some good irish air, leaves one a little on display for those who pass by in the courtyard
i have taken today off as i figure that for the next while it will be long hours standing watch over the cookers and pleasing the punters with some fine respite
i love you all and at times you terribly
smile, enjoy your day and think happy thoughts!

November 30 2006

isn't it funny that people are so willing to gossip and share dirt
except of course with those that are involved
as you find out they are willing hindsighters
" oh i didn't want to tell you at the time man, you know, it really wasn't my place to stick my nose in!"
yet still they love to stick their nose in...... only if nobody in the room can see
people are voyeurs and they love watching and talking about anybody else's lives
look at the explosion of reality tv
over here it is an entire industry that fabricates stars out of otherwise meaningless people
people who are famous only for being famous
abby titmus is one and she is making 8 figures a year for having done nothing other than become exposed for what she is. a self admitted talentless commoner who had the good fortune to be someone's girlfriend at a time when he was news. she then appeared performing oral gratification in a threesome and voila- instant celebrity!
the version of big brother is mind numbingly vast.
when it occurs, in the springtime, it is on the telly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for three months running.
and the people who get in the house go on to careers in the media
they become darlings
so while you are going through the daily rigours of your life, know that someone is watching you and more than that are talking about it
they just don't have the temerity or strength of honesty to let you know
only after
only when they can let you know how smart they are about what they knew and you didn't see
these are not friends. they are barnacles, leeches and parasites living off the juices of a life worth living.......................................yours!
be good at it my friend and worry not about what you dont know
when you need to
you will
there will always be someone willing to fill you in on the details of your own life
it's more fun that way
enjoy it!
hey , what do you know, you are famous!!!!!

NOVEMBER 13 2006

hi everybody!
bless the rain for it brings the lifeblood that the world needs to provide everything we need to survive
without it we cannot survive
ireland although sub Arctic in latitude, parallel to the aleutian islands off alaska or akamiski island in Hudson's bay about 500 miles north of timmins, gets it's fair share of rainfall.
cork for instance, in it's coldest months, averages about 6 degrees and historically has 24 days of precipitation, one of which may be snow.
burlington on the other hand, has the same number (24) of precipitation days, only 21 of them are snowfalls. the average temperature in the cold months is a frosty minus 6 degrees.
the highest it has ever been here is 27 degrees while the lowest is minus 7. cork averages about 43 inches of rain a year, december being the highest month with 5 inches
in burlington, the highest it's gotten was around 41 degrees while the lowest was a bone chilling, face freezing minus 31(that's friggin cold) it gets about 31 inches of precipitation a year. historically, july is the wettest month with just over 3 inches of rain on average.
in amsterdam, they average about 32 inches a year of precipitation with an average temperature of 10 degrees. the highest recorded in the past 21 years was 33 and the lowest was minus sixteen.

so thanks to the thermal conveyer, that exchange of warm tropical water running by our west coast has a very moderate climate and a foot more rain than you guys
at least we don't have the bone chill of timmins where they average 210 days a year below freezing, the lowest being minus 45. burlington by the way averages 141 days below freezing while cork averages 3
what does all this mean? it is indeed very green here. year round. and it is a lush moist green like the plushest of carpets.
and no mosquitos.
at least none that bite
other than that i am very well and obviously had some time to relax and research this stuff.
still playing my guitars, have yet to record, living an enjoyable life.

yvonne, i feel your pain.
but unless you leave canada and try other things you will never know what i am experiencing
everything here is different on some level
what i love about it is the attitude.
canada, i am sad to say, has no real identity.
it just wants to be like america, only a nice cousin that doesn't rock the boat too much.
she even promotes all new comers to not assimilate( what is there to assimilate to?) but to retain their identities and culture
that in itself is a very good thing.
because of that, toronto is exposed to foods from all over the world.
unlike many other places
canadians are taught tolerance, being good neighbors
americans are taught to protect the neighborhood and band together
the dutch are taught to explore their own individuality, try their own ideas( Probably why the dutch national football side rarely work as a team)
and the irish, well it is about the quality of life done as simply and efficiently as possible
on the telly, programs start at no particular time and run till their finished
example

unlike canada things don't start on the half hour and last in blocks of thirty minutes
it can be frustrating but it is also cool
they also have packaging down to an art-form
all the tins have pull tops and there are very few boxes
mostly vacuum packed or cello wrapped goods
and living in the agriculturally splendant cork county which has a 365 day growing season means the food is always fresh and hardly has travelled or been processed
it is like living on the farm.
you just have to come over for a full irish breakfast and you will understand
and the people are so nice!
everyone has to have a party piece. a bit they do to entertain and pass the time
there are very few pubs with piped in music
the people are the CRAIC (pronounced crack) the people entertain themselves with themselves
and... one day i can hope it applies to me...artists do not pay any income tax on anything they earn from creating in ireland!
cynthia, how about that!
bono, van morrisson, donovan, countless artists you've never heard of make their millions and legally and without loophole are not obligated to pay tax because they add to color and texture of ireland
ireland, the land of poets and saints they call it
oh and again, meet an irish person and look at their skin, look in their eyes
it is a healthy place
i'll take that extra foot of rain!
love you all

OCTOBER 22 2006

hello everyone

it would be great if you all could come for christmas!
i wish i could get to toronto!
as of now i am bound by business to be here
they say i can go in january, but lets be real, january in toronto?
i don't miss snow that much!
we don't do thanksgiving here and to be honest i had plum forgotten about it till yvonne mentioned it
i talk to monica from time to time i spoke to her the other day, she is selling all her stuff and moving to vancouver
that should happen shortly
before christmas anyway
she went to dublin for a month to find a place and came away thinking she couldn't live there
as far as her rehab went she has lapsed in and out of drinking it is a constant struggle for her
i hope she deals with her demons and makes friends with herself and accepts her past as part of who she is
it all troubles her very much
she had it all and lost it
she beats herself constantly over it
i play my guitars every day for at least two hours
i haven't yet received my tape deck but with all the hours i've been putting in with our new tapas' menu program i don't have the time
still i enjoy playing and i am getting better and better at playing what i am thinking
making the music in my head come out through my fingers
it is exhilarating!
cynthia, you have the same talent! i hope you are playing
you can play what you hear. i've heard it!
i do not miss my feather bed, the one's i have here are very comfortable
in fact my place is very comfortable
when i was off for two weeks i hardly ventured out
i enjoyed being here
do i miss toronto
sadly no
i hardly ever think about it
what i see before me here feels like home and as i say , i am very comfortable
i make okay money, but everything is also so much more expensive
at the end of the day or week or month i have enough to pay my bills and i can eat what i want without worrying and i have a little left over
i have been buying music gear lately so i actually i am net zero
reading dad's email, i have to say i miss the fall colors
the smell of the leaves on the ground as they slowly decay and provide cover and food for the next year
the warning that summer is over and winter is coming
here there really are no seasons as such
it just rains more in the fall and winter
we've had buckets of it!
it still gets to be about 15 degrees everyday
only the sun is up shorter
we are kinda like the arctic
really long days in the summer, sun up at 4 am, sunset at 11:30 pm
sun up at 8-8:30 in the winter and down by three or four
it is hard to get a tan though and everyone has really nice skin because of it
funny the things you notice
cynthia, on the 17th nothing special happened for me, anything from any of you guys?
well i hope you are all well and i really enjoy receiving mail from you!

Hello my dearest clan!
Although Ireland does not celebrate thanksgiving I too spent the time introspectful and reflected on the many things I am thankful for.
Monica is in Palm Springs with her friend Mai Rowan.
She is acting the Florence nightingale as Mai has surgery on her teeth. Today she is flying up to Vancouver to see her daughter Talya whom is attending the University of British Colombia this year.
Her friends Rita and Jean Pierre dropped by here from Switzerland on their way up to Dublin to see Rita’s dad last weekend.
I stuffed a chicken and we had or own little thanksgiving and watched world cup qualifying all weekend.
They left Tuesday and my week has been full with work and the study of bacterial microbiology at school
Chewy and I are enjoying our walks out to the sea.
I am slowly unpacking my stuff trying to figure what to do with it all.
Cynthia I do indeed have your books and I will indeed do something with them.
Once I have them on my system I will be glad to send them along to wherever you want them
Dad you are right about the sea. It captivates and holds you in it’s ever-changing majesty
It is amazing how spellbinding it is. I can linger for hours taking it all in. it emanates such an awesome presence. Even when calm. The sea air seems to sedate you and hold you in it’s grasp unrelinquishingly
Jealous, once she has your attention, to let you go.
Truly amazing
I have yet to see a hockey game, but I saw that lindros was a leaf and I heard something about shoot outs in overtime.
Soccer is all the rage here and I do enjoy the game.
Especially since Holland has a real chance at winning the cup
It should be fun next summer
I love you all and my thoughts will be with Rick as his birthday nears.
I hope the world finds him some peace and happiness. He seems to have been tortured by it’s and his choices.
I hope he learns to love himself and share that with others
He is a talented and vital individual
He deserves it
Ta ta for now

OCTOBER 8, 2005

It is morning here as I sit with my coffee, the doors wide open and the air flowing past me, as the sun begins to warm up the crisp air of another Saturday in crosshaven. Chewy is patiently waiting for me to walk him. He has been out to pee. He prefers the companionship while he investigates all the smells the town has to offer him. Part lab, part beagle, he truly lives through his nostrils. These walks we share while we journey either out to the old fort of Camden on the ocean or down to town to get some groceries are the highlight of his day. I too truly enjoy his bounding energy as he sniffs and makes sure that we are both going the same way with his tail wagging eagerly awaiting what may cross our path.
I have become closer to myself, my centre, my source. I have become closer to the earth. I have found that there is space here for all of gods creatures and I am fascinated by it all. Gone are the days when I would swat a fly or get rid of a spider. Now we all co exist in a symbiotic harmony that allows each to find it’s destiny. I feel I have found the path and I walk it with enthusiasm.
Spain was too hot, too dry, too volatile. Ireland is like the cool soothing moss in the middle of a forest with the sun breaking through the trees. A place where you would want to linger, stop and take it all in.
Canada has broken my heart with all the acid rain and the fishless lakes that were once teaming.
I am truly saddened by it
I would take ten day canoe trips into the middle of Algonquin only to find the cupboard bare
I eventually stopped going
It in fact led me here
I can sit on the porch absorbing a wonderful sunset overlooking cobh where the titanic made it’s last call to port before finding itself on the bottom of the Atlantic. The way the light changes, the colours getting warmer, as the sun falls. The boats rocking gently at their anchors with the lanyards clinking against the masts. The birds amassing in the trees as they settle down for the night, resting up for the journey across the sea to Europe, then Africa.
It all is full of wonder. Then, when you think the show is over, the lights of the town of crosshaven takes over. With it’s warm yellowy orange twinkle. It always reminds me of a Christmas card. Across the bay, the cathedral of St. Colmans, one of the oldest churches in Ireland, is lit in all it’s stately grandeur, keeping watch over the denizens of the cork harbour community. I can sit for hours absorbing it all.
And the night sky! I am sure somewhere you have seen the same star filled brightness that is lost in a big city.
This is what I have found
This is where I am
I am glad to hear you are in tune and true to yourself. You are a wonderful person in a wonderful place in a world in need of wonderfulness. I always seen you for who you are.
I am grateful for that
I am grateful for your friendship
Keep going, enjoying each step, and hug the wife and kids for me
Arthur

OCTOBER 7, 2005

Things are indeed going well for me. I am living in crosshaven, a small
harbour by the sea. This little village of 1500 overlooks some pretty
stunning views. The drive from work, the last six of miles which snake along
a tidal river littered with various boats of different shapes and sizes has
the same effect on me every day. The feeling of a total neural massage.
Calming and soothing my soul as I wind along it's banks delivering me past
two marinas up the hill to our home. The air here is fresh, sweet and clean.
You can hang your white linen out to dry and comes in sparkling clean and
smelling of the sea.
Crosshaven is in the south of the county of cork, which itself is in the
south of Ireland. Crosshaven is about 30 miles from cork city where I work
fulltime as one of corks well paid chefs. Seems I have a lot to offer and it has been recognized.
Monica and I are still the best of friends and the house is big and ample
enough to accommodate both of our spaces and needs. Her dog, chewy, rounds
out the household.
I feel right at home here and to be honest, I have never for one second
regretted coming here or have yearned for a return to toronto.
Life is good.
It is fun living it
Some day we may start a business, Monica constantly has irons in the fire.
Right now I am learning how to do it the Irish way. In fact Tuesday I start
a hazard analysis access control point management course to better certify
me in the health standards here.
I haven't picked up a dart since the last time i played for the brew crew
We shall see.
Tell the boys not to worry, I am living it full and loving it!
I wish you could all see what I see and smell the air. You will instantly
understand.
Even the food tastes better.
Wonderful, wonderful soil
Be good at it and spread my love

Hello everybody

I am back from my European excursion and indeed we did find a place.

It is an hour and a bit north of Barcelona, A half hour east of Girona and about two hours south of France.

A Beautiful coastal town in the Costa Brava called Begur.

The plan as it stands is to wrap up things here, sell everything i don't need (a list will appear shortly) and hopefully be on my way to Ireland in early april. From there we will load up the Audi A4 Cabriolet with the two dogs, Chewy and Max, catch a ferry to the mainland and drive through France to our new home in Spain.

January 24th, 2005

Hello everybody

I am packed and off to Ireland and Spain with Monica

We are still so grateful and thankful that we met on the sidewalk outside 801 king on that magical Thursday, December the sixteenth when Monica asked me for my light
We have been sharing each others light ever since
If not for the serendipity of what surely must be a few seconds either way, we never would have met
The fact that we did is profound and we both recognize that we have fate and destiny in front of us and with eagerness and open hearts we are traveling on that path to see where it will take us
Right now the path seems to be Europe so we are off in search of our holy grail
We are going to check out Ireland and Spain primarily
It seems Monica's trip to Toronto in November when she arrived was just to meet me and we both feel abroad calling to us
Where exactly we land we are not sure
It just doesn't’t feel here
We feel extremely comfortable here yet something is missing in the location other than each others company
So we will go on an adventure and explore
See if something sticks it head out and beckons us
We just may end up back here where we started
We will not know until we try
Our flight leaves Toronto at 6 tomorrow evening and by noon Wednesday Irish time we will be in Ireland
From there on Monday the plan is to travel to Barcelona and take it from there
I have heard lot’s of good things about Spain and Barcelona in particular over the past couple of years.
It is time to see what the fuss is all about
I will be thinking of you all and trying not to miss the cold weather we have been having ( it is 18 degrees in Barcelona)
Cynthia, I will be dealing with posting your stuff on my site when I get back, be patient
The last five weeks have been such a discovery for me I have truly blessed and busy
I love you all and will try to be in touch
The plan is to return the 15th of February

I have been listening to this for a few weeks now and it is amazing.

Seems I need a fix of it every day. This L. A. based initiative is an offshoot of the EELS.

Musically it is very hard to pigeon hole, it is all over the place.

Mr. Honky is, in fact, a reclusive remix wizard who cares little for the show business and its trappings. Unwilling to let the public know much, the puzzle pieces are as such: he is a shy, native Los Angeleno in his mid-fifties who began his love affair with sound as a teenaged janitor at the Capitol Records studio in 1959.
In 1968, after working his way up from janitor to second engineer, Mr. Honky got his first job as a first engineer, recording the ill-fated Frank Sinatra "Gunga Din" album for Reprise.

Honky gave up show business in the seventies, marrying the delightful Mrs. Honky and concentrating on his other passion, pottery. His successful pottery business in full swing, the electronic music of the eighties re-ignited Mr. Honky's passion to work with music again.
With Mrs. Honky taking over the pottery business, Mr. Honky turned his energies full time towards utilizing his huge vinyl record collection to create massive sound collages and virtually inventing a new genre of music he calls "self help rock."
In 1999 Mr. Honky's daughter attended a concert at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater, where the rock band Eels were performing. She handed a tape of some of her father's sonic collages to Eels leader "E" after the show. Wholly impressed, the Eels' singer contacted Mr. Honky, expressing interest in producing an album of his work and offering support and help in telling the world about MC Honky, going so far as to give MC Honky space on the Eels website. Other guests on the album include Silverlake hipster-producer Mickey Petralia, R.E.M. drummer Joey Waronker, and the Eels' drummer Butch. Silverlake staples Koool G Murder and Li'l 'Fer step in for stunning guest vocalist appearances.

MELISSA McCLELLAND - STRANDED IN SUBURBIA
stranded in suburbia

Haunting and Beautiful this is one marvelous CD !!!!

I saw Melissa McClelland in Ottawa, Thursday nov 11th at Cafe Dekcuf and her voice blew me away. I have been listening to her disc STRANDED IN SUBURBIA ever since.
She sings with such a pure golden throated voice of unbridled honesty that triggers goosebumps on my skin.
Melissa will be performing in Toronto at Healey's on Bathurst at Queen, Friday November 26th as part of the Ladybird Sideshow where they will be releasing their new cd.
Melissa will also be performing Thursday December 9th at the Underground @ the Drake Hotel on Queen. I will be attending that show you should too. it is part of Provoke V- Pop Culture. Tickets are just 10 bucks.

Special tracks for me are the discs first track, Good as Gold starts off innocently enough seductively soothing you with simple guitar lightly and deftly picked only to confront you with the reality of an ever adventurous romp through life that is White Lies (Stranded in Suburbia). In Pretty Blue trying to grasp onto and join that something that is just out of reach and is falling through your fingers. I love Glimpse into Hell's graphic imagery and car starter rhythm. The haunting Rooftop with its harmonics, simple guitar and bone resonating vocal of power and strength is a song I can listen to over and over again. Melissa does a rockin' cover of Bruce Springsteen's Factory that blows the original away in its ability to capture the sense of a workingman's anthem. Picture Postcard is sure to resonate with every bored suburbanite looking to escape in the fantasy of life better and more exciting and not quite safe. Encinitas Rainstorm is a fun stomping marching along tune that Melissa's voice shines through ringing out the notes in syncopation to the militarily like beat. For those trapped in the dead end nine to five, Little Birds will provide you with an understanding friend and moments of escape. The trio of deftly plunked ivories, plucked guitar and Melissa's silky willowy voice on Blue Farewell causes you to stop thinking and be overwhelmed and surrounded with the warm blanket of this masterpiece that invokes the word classic. The final track on the cd Smoke Signals tells of meeting in a bar from a far and all the while taking the event to its conclusion before the event even begins. Very funny and sardonic!

MAD VIOLET-WORRY THE JURY
worry the jury

I saw Mad Violet in Ottawa on remembrance day at Cafe Dekcuf and they were awesome!
The obvious chemistry between these two accomplished singer songwriters was treat to behold!
They played while i tried to juggle the three sketches I was scribbling while they kept swapping between guitars and Lisa's fiddle playing.
Lisa and Brenley are very talented musicians and their intertwining harmonies portraying the colorful vibrant landscape of their lyrics along with their well placed notes were delivered with the enthusiasm of enjoyment!

I was in heaven and felt like such a lucky fellow to have witnessed such a fine evening

Mad Violet are Cape Breton's Lisa MacIsaac and Kincardine's Brenley MacEachern who met in Toronto, thankfully for us at the Green Room.

WORRY THE JURY-Mad Violet's latest gift to us
was recorded in London, England's Ghost Room Studios and superbly produced by John Reynolds (Sinead O'Conner, U2, Simply Red and Peter Gabriel. Lisa and Brenley are joined on the album by Jon Klein (Souixie and the Banshees), Matthew Seligman (Tori Amos,Soft Boys) and Clare Kenny (Indigo Girls) serving as a back up band.
WORRY THE JURY is a meat filled album of ten great tunes that haven't left my cd player since i got the autographed beauty home from Ottawa. after more than 20 listens it is still fresh and relevant. Light it Up the albums opening track is a punchy ode to restocking the reservoir in the middle of experience and being able to draw on the energy of another. Dishonest lovers are given fair warning in Take Your Things quick and running great driving tune beat. I would love to be in a convertible with the top down, wind running through my hair and this tune cranked and filling my ears. Lisa's and Brenley's sweet vocal harmonies accentuated by deftly twinkled ivories and Lisa's fiddle on Haight Ashbury  offer a wonderful backdrop to the moment of running into a past which is uncomfortable with itself for sidling away while you have always been there has quickly become one of favourite tunes. Lisa takes the forefront vocally on the quirky and fun Left Foot. It deals honestly and self abashedly with the common situation we have all found our selves in. Clearly my absolute favourite song on this 10 jeweled treasure is Wake Up. It is to me simply a masterpiece of songwriting and production. Every time this song comes on I stop what i am doing and soak it in. Brenley's voice captivates me and takes me along for the ride. Brenley does it again to me, against the backdrop of Paulo Baconi's dobro and Kieran Kiely's accordion playing, in Save a Song along with Lisa's haunting harmonies that paint the picture of never ending good-bye. I love the sexy sassiness of the start of I'm Alright and the way it evolves into and out of a descending bass line power ballad. The simple plunking of the key board with brenley's doo do doo's at the end of the song bring you back to earth gently and caringly. The Ghostly falsetto start of Red Lights along with Paulo Baconi's haunting harmonica along with Brenley's throaty voice is a perfect marriage of musical bliss. Dirty drums greet you and invite you in to Just Go, an arpeggiated guitar grabs you and carries you through, this break-up song that ends reminiscent of Baldametti. The crunchy midi driven start to Scarlet contrasts surprisingly well along Brenley's vocals and Lisa's sweet backing harmonies in such a way that you want to hear the song over again right away. The album ends with an acoustic little short live impromptu jam ditty better known as Mississhippie that is led in by a conversation between Jamiroquia's lighting man and Lisa.
